James L. "Jim" Fischer, 83, Topeka, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2013. He was born October 15, 1929, in Leroy, KS, the son of Robert and Mary Ellen DeLong Fischer. Jim was a graduate of Leroy High School. He was in Army Signal School stationed in Fort Monmouth, NJ and Fort Bragg, NC during the Korean War. Jim married Mildred "Millie" George on November 19, 1960, in Topeka. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2011. Jim was owner of Kansas Electronics. He was a member of Topeka First Assembly of God.
Survivors include children, Mary (Todd) Krass, Overland Park, Kevin (Leslie) Fischer, and Michelle (Shane) Dittman, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Tiffany, Ashley, Robert and Tyler Krass, Andrew, Abigail and Kevin Fischer, and Jacob and Alex Dittman; brother, Delmont "Bob" Fischer, Albuquerque, NM; and sister, Barbara Fischer Kimbrough, Topeka. He was preceded in death by brother, Curtis, Newton, KS. Jim was a wonderful husband, caring dad and beloved grandpa. He enjoyed music, travel, his family and church family.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at First Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at the church.
