James H. Hendricks, 86, Topeka, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2007.
James was born September 18, 1920 in Antlers, Oklahoma, the son of Charles Harold and Edith Roebuck Hendricks.
He was a military veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. James was an over the road truck driver and a member of Teamsters Union Local #696, Topeka, KS. He and his wife Cecile were involved in the Flea Market Industry in Topeka since the early 1980's.
He married Cecile R. Gamache on July 7, 1942 in Dover, Delaware. She preceded him in death March 5, 2006. Survivors include daughters; Edith "Bunny" Bolton and husband, Sam, Chattanooga, TN, Shirley Martin-Smith and husband, Robin Smith, Lawrence, KS; Diane Hoover Roach, Topeka, KS; and Mary Jane Pore and husband, David, Derby, KS; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one brother, Donald Hendricks, Summerville, SC.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mr. Hendricks will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. following the visitation.
