James Earl Fields, Sr., 50, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on March 19, 1956 in Muskogee, OK, the son of Ozella Guess and Johnny Fields, Sr. He had resided in Topeka for the past 25 years. He was a minister for Open Arms Outreach Ministries, C.O.G.I.C. James married Cheryl Anderson on March 30, 1979 in Miami, OK. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Cherise Fields, two sons, James Fields, Jr., and Jason Fields, Sr., all of Topeka, four grandchildren, JaQuan Nicholson, Jahmari Pleasant Fields, Jason D., Fields, Jr. and Alana A. Dozier, three brothers, Wayne Jackson and Elmer Mayes of Tulsa, OK, and Johnny Fields, Jr. of Muskogee, OK, and four sisters, Bertha Mae Barnes, Delores Guess , Lenora and Yvette Lyday all of Muskogee, OK and a host of nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by one brother, Demetris Jerome Thomas and one sister, Mary Jo Mayes. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Open Arms Outreach Ministries, C.O.G.I.C., 2401 S.E. 11th St. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. James will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be given to American Diabetes Association, 837 S.
