James E. Coulter, 86, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
He was born August 18, 1927, in Vermillion, Kansas, the son of Kenneth and Julia (Kenworthy) Coulter. He graduated from Vermillion High School in 1945. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.
Jim was the parts manager at Laird Noller Ford Heavy Truck Center for over 20 years and received many sales awards from Ford Motor Company retiring in the early 1990's. He served as President of the Kansas Parts and Service Club as well during that period.
He was an active member of the Central Church of Christ and was involved in teaching Bible classes and as served as a deacon for 20 years in various capacities supporting the maintenance of the church vans and facilities.
Jim married the love of his life, Catherine Anne Snavely on December 19, 1950 in Vermillion, Kansas. Other survivors include two sons, Timothy J. (Vicki) Coulter, Topeka and Todd W. (Lori) Coulter, Bellevue, WA; one brother, Lowell M. (Betty) Coulter, Carl Junction, MO; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gregory Scott Coulter, his sister Melba Spain and grandson Jason Dailey.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Central Church of Christ, 1250 SW College Ave, Topeka, KS 66604. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
