James L. Dunn, 61, of Topeka, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018.
He was born April 18, 1957, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Bud and A. Elaine (Cole) Dunn. He received his Diploma of Nursing from Newman Hospital School of Nursing. He served in the Navy Nurse Corp as a Lieutenant. James was employed at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka, KS and then went on to become an entrepreneur in the field of medical products.
James married Elsie Fernandez on November 19, 1983 in Oakland, CA .
He was an amazing husband, father, papa, and brother. He was a member of Topeka Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Dunn; daughters, Melanie (Shawn) Amaro, Michele Knox, Sheree (Brandon) Combes; son, James Leroy Dunn, II, all of Topeka; sister, Rachel (Ruth) Dunn, Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Gage, Ayden, Keara, Kaileah Amaro, Ryleigh, Jaxen Knox, Kadence, Bryce, Ryder, Dakota Combes and great-grandson, Kai Amaro.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family will greet friends Monday, August 13, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Topeka Baptist Church, 4500 SW Gage Blvd. Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Topeka Baptist Church. Inurnment will be at a later date.
