James D. Stallard

James D. Stallard, 94, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center.

Jim was born October 17, 1914 in Columbus, the son of James H. and Mabel (Henderson) Stallard. He graduated from the Geuda Springs High School in 1932 and attended business college in Wichita.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a radar mechanic on a B-17 bomber.

He was in pharmaceutical sales for many years and held numerous sales positions with businesses in Topeka.

He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, and Masonic Lodge No. 51 in Topeka.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. His pride and joy were his grandchildren.

Jim married Helen Matson on January 4, 1939 in Topeka. She died December 15, 1999. Survivors include daughters, Sharen Overand, Montclair, VA, Karen Woods, Castle Rock, CO; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jodi Overand, Matt Woods and Sarah Klingelheber; and brother, Bruce Stallard, Tampa, FL.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
