James E. Connor Jr., 86, of Arlington Texas passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Texas Health Hospital Mansfield in Mansfield Texas.
Jim was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of James E. and Loretta (Wilson) Connor Sr. He grew up in the "The Little Italy" neighborhood of Chicago, attending public schools. A United States Marine veteran of the Korea War, after coming home he meet his wife Loretta Eckert on a date that was set up by family members. The couple was married on November 23, 1957, after living in several areas of Chicago in 1968 the family moved to the northwest suburb of Mount Prospect into a new house residing their until the children left, relocating to Topeka, Kansas. Jim moved to Arlington, Texas shortly after Loretta's passing for the warmer Texas weather and to be close to Sandy, eventually moving into her house due to failing health.
Survivors include his children: Michael Connor of Clearwater, Florida, Debra (Mike) McAlister of Topeka, Kansas, Sandy Jump of Arlington, Texas, Brenda Dionne of Phlox, Wisconsin; sister: Carol Daley of Clearwater, Florida; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Hardie) McAlister-Welch, Robert McAlister, Dustin (Melissa) Jump, Chelsea Jump, Nichole (Tyler) Dionne-Eades, Tristen Dionne, Kelly Dionne, Lucas Dionne; seven great grandchildren: Christina (Danica) Welch-Barone, Michael Welch, Cody Welch, Landon Jump, Elena Jump, Kinley Eades, Kai Eades; and one great-great grandchild; Gabriel Barone,
He was preceded in death by his wife Loretta, parents, brother Ronnie Connor and grandson Michael Connor Jr.
Jim enjoyed yardwork, house projects, bowling, golf, volunteering at church and the Mansfield senior center. Several family trips were made with his parents, children and to his adult children's out of state homes.
Private services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
