James C. Moore, 76, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2008 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on July 15, 1932 in Clines Island, MO, the son of Jesse and Mildred Avery Moore. He was an Air Force veteran during the Korean War. After returning from the service, he was employed by Duffens Optical for 42 years before retiring in 1997. He attended Topeka Bible Church. James married Ethel Nelson on February 13, 1955 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Doug (Barb)Moore, Scott Moore all of Topeka, one daughter, Dana (Mike) Morgan of Indianapolis, IN, ten grandchildren, one great-grandson, three sisters, Louise Tarrence of Piedmont, MO, Rosalyn Coffey and Joyce Barney both of O'Fallon, MO. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. James will lie in state from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
