James Arthur "Jim" Miller, 71, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015.
He was born May 16, 1943 in San Jose, California, the son of Jesse Wellington and Mary (Martin) Miller. He graduated from Winfield High School and Wichita State University.
Mr. Miller retired from Sears Department Store in Wichita and Topeka.
He was a member of First Christian Church, and Golden Rule Lodge No 90 A.F. & A.M. of Topeka.
Jim married Carolyn McClurg in 1963. They were divorced. He married Paula Shirkey in 1998. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, James David Miller and Sharon Black of Lyndon, and son, Matthew; a brother, Jesse Ronald (Betty) Miller, Gravois Mills, MO; close nieces and nephews, Ron Richardson, Sherri Pogue, Vicky (Kyle) Kdul, Keith (Lori) Miller, Greg Miller and Jeff Shackelford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Richardson and Jackie Shackelford.
Jim was an avid Chiefs, K-State University and Wichita State University Fan. He enjoyed old movies, wood carving, fishing and playing cards.
A masonic service will be held at 5 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka.
The family will receive friends following the serviced until 7 p.m.
