James A. Mcclure

A fourth generation Topekan, James A. McClure, 56, passed away, February 22, 2006. He died of heart problems while driving.

He was born June 11, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Dr. James Allison and Mary Jo (Gerdeman) McClure.

He attended Randolph Elementary, Capper Junior High School and graduated from Topeka West High School in 1967. He participated on the golf team while at Topeka West. He was a 1971 graduate of the University of Kansas where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Jim earned his Master's Degree in Child Psychology from KU where he was a doctoral candidate in Psychology. Jim also attended dental school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

Jim worked in marketing and business research in Topeka and California. During his stay in California he enjoyed working at the Mill Valley Market Deli.

He found the most joy in his life sharing time with his children Nicole Elizabeth and James Arthur McClure, ages 17 and 15 respectively, who reside with their mother Anna McClure in Topeka. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Margaret McClure of Mill Valley, CA and his brother, Thomas D. McClure of Austin, TX.

Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private inurnment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nicole and James McClure Scholarship Fund, c/o Capitol Federal Savings, 700 S. Kansas Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
