Jacqueline J. "Jackie" Tubbs, 79, loving wife and mother of Granbury, TX, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on December 19, 1929 in McLouth, KS, the daughter of Harry and Eunice Barnard Burgoyne. She was raised in McLouth until moving to Norfolk, VA. Jackie moved to Topeka in 1952 where she met and married Connie H. Tubbs on September 1, 1953. She moved to Gatesville, TX where she resided for 3 years before moving back to Topeka. She lived in Topeka until 1985. She and her husband retired to Granbury, TX in 1994. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Granbury, Beulah Chapter No. 34 O.E.S. in Topeka and participated in the Arab Shrine activities in Topeka with her husband. She enjoyed reading, taking walks and playing with her pets. Survivors include her husband, Connie H. Tubbs of Granbury, TX, one daughter, Deborah M. Tubbs of Topeka, one son, David H. Tubbs of Grandbury, TX, one grandson, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in McLouth Cemetery, McLouth, KS. Jackie will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Eastern Star Services will also be conducted by Beulah Chapter No. 34, O.E.S. beginning at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of Granbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131 or to the organization of the donor's choice.
