Jacqueline Jo "Jackey" Culley, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
She was born December 9, 1930 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Ralph J. Hughes and Gertrude R. (Martin) Hughes. Raised in Braymer, MO, and baptized in the First Baptist Church, she graduated from Braymer High School in 1949, and attended Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, MO.
She married Donald J. Culley April 1, 1951 and moved to Topeka, Kansas in June, 1952, where they raised four children.
Jackey was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, worked for the Topeka Public Schools, Frito-Lay, and Senator Tim Emert. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, was an officer in the Topeka Needlework Guild, active in the Kansas Capitol and Kaw Valley Quilter's Guilds, and was a volunteer in many community efforts.
Jackey was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her brother, James W. Hughes.
Survivors include a daughter, Jayne Hood, and sons Patrick (wife, Suzanne), Jon, and Matthew; five grandchildren, Kelsey Knouse, Sarah Walker, Kristen Culley, Bryce Culley, and Daniel Culley; and three great-grandchildren, Keegan Knouse, Vann Walker and Lohden Walker.
The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 in the chapel at Mount Hope Cemetery, 17th & Fairlawn, Topeka. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will host a reception in the foyer immediately following the graveside services.
