Jack Wilson

Jack C. Wilson, 80, of Topeka, passed away, Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at his home after an extended illness.

He was born June 1, 1924 in Topeka the son of Frank and Goldie Freeze Wilson.

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. He received the Bronze Star for meritorious service.

He was a member of Post #400, American Legion

Jack worked as a roofer for many companies in Topeka and retired from Taylor Roofing Company October 1984. He was a member of Local #20 Roofers Union.

He married Dorothy Burghart July 17, 1948 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Wanda Metzger and Diana Kurdziel both of Topeka; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two sisters, Maxine Sisco and Margaret Lang both of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Floyd, Oscar, and Rex Wilson and two sisters, Ruth Adams and Donna Kolterman.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Mr. Wilson will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Saturday and after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
