Jack Raymond Shutt, 77, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016.
Jack was born April 27, 1938, in Topeka, KS, to Melvin E. and Grace E. (Carlson) Shutt. He graduated in 1956 from Topeka High School and from Washburn University with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Jack worked in the Topeka banking community for 45 years with Merchants National Bank and CoreFirst Bank, retiring as Vice President of Internal Auditing. He married Edith "Elaine" Robb on August 17, 1968 in Dodge City. Jack was a longtime member of Countryside United Methodist Church, Civitan International, Washburn University Alumni Association, Topeka Jayhawk Club, and the Topeka High School Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years; two sons, Michael E. (Stephanie) Shutt of Shawnee, KS and Robert D. (Christine) Shutt of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Brenden, Luke, and Blake Shutt; sister, Donna Johnson of Littleton, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Melvin L. Shutt and Robert D. Shutt.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Countryside United Methodist Church, 3221 SW Burlingame Rd, Topeka, KS 66611. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS.
