Jack L. Swenson, 89, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010. He was born July 10, 1921 in Republic County, KS to Ross G. and Mabel Swenson.
Jack was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII. On July 6, 1946 he married Emadale Lockwood. She preceded him in death on September 27, 1999. He married Joyce Segelquist on September 9, 2000. He was a member of Grace UMC, Topeka Evening Sertoma, where he was honored as Sertoman of the year in 1992, Topeka Arab Shrine Temple, Salina Scottish Rite, Manhattan Tin Lizzies, Manhattan LaFayette Lodge No. 16, Life Time Good Sam Member, KS Good Sam, Capital Sam's Camping Club, Nomad's Camping Club, NARFE Chapter 2, Grace UMC Men's and Crusader's Sunday School Class and New Beginnings Adult Choir.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Swenson; his daughters, Linda (Larry) Hunter of Lecompton and Barbara (Woody) Weidner of Topeka; a brother, Swede Swenson of Topeka; his step-children, Ellen Mushock, Susan Segelquist, Mark Segelquist; two grandsons, Lenn Hunter of Kansas City and Joshua Logan of Peoria, AZ; three step-grandchildren and four great step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emadale, a grandson, Lonnie Hunter and a brother Victor Swenson.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14 at Grace United Methodist Church. Family inurnment will take place at a later date at Belleville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August13 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
