Jack I. Frazier, 93, Topeka, died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Lexington Park Nursing Center.
He was born September 27, 1915 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the son of James Milburn and Bertha Elizabeth Cross Frazier. He graduated from Blackwell High School, received his BS from Oklahoma A&M, and his Masters Degree from Kansas State Teachers College, Pittsburg. He also did graduate work at the University of Kansas and at Eastern New Mexico State University. He came to Topeka in 1955.
Jack taught school for 40 years in various school districts. He was a member of First Christian Church, Topeka Retired Teachers Association, and the Washburn Walkers.
He married Kathleen McElhaney on August 13, 1940 at Guthrie, Oklahoma. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Jeanine Mott and husband, Myron of Topeka; a son, James Allen Frazier and wife, Mary of Plano, TX; a brother, James Marvin Frazier of Blackwell, OK; five grandchildren, Troy Mott (Marilyn), Lisa Propps (Russ), Justin Mott (Danielle), Meredith Frazier, and Ashley Bennett (Dale); and nine great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Frazier on September 20, 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Mt. Hope Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Frazier will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m.
