Jack F. Ecord, 76, Topeka, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 in Waterford, Ireland while on vacation.
He was born June 9, 1927 in Harris, Kansas, the son of Frank and Esther Ecord. He graduated from Topeka High School and attended Washburn University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He served in the US Marine Corps during WW2.
Mr. Ecord was a long time businessman in Topeka. He was past owner of Midwest Livestock Company and Shawnee Beer Sales. He served as President and CEO of Stevenson Company, Inc. until 1991 when he sold the company and retired.
He was an active member of First Congregational Church for 52 years, where he served on several boards and committees. He was past Exhaulted Ruler of Topeka Lodge #204 BPO Elks and was active on state committees, was a member of the Kansas State Historical Society and was an active volunteer at the Discovery School. He also was past president of Topeka Cosmopolitan Club and a member of Shawnee Country Club, where he served on several committees.
He married Ilene Jones on July 31, 1948 at Ft. Madison, Iowa. She survives at home.

Ecord, Topeka; daughter & son-in-law, Kathi and Rex Haney, Topeka; daughter, Jackie Ecord, Topeka; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and John Hankamer, Topeka; grandchildren, Britt and Amy Haney, Shawnee; Heather Elliott, Lawrence; Lindsey Elliott, Lawrence; Bernie Haney, Manhattan; Josh & Tara Elliott and great-granddaughter, Jordan, Mountain Grove, MO.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am Monday at First Congregational Church. Private interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
