Jack Burtram, 98, Topeka, died Tuesday, September 27, 2010 at his home.
He was born May 2, 1913 in St. Clair County, Alabama, the son of Kenny W. and Artis Gibb Burtram. He lived in Gadsden, Alabama for ten years before coming to Topeka in 1945.
Mr. Burtram was one of the original 100 Goodyear employees who started the Topeka Goodyear Plant in 1945. He was Production Foreman at the plant when he retired in 1974 after 38 years of service.
Jack was an avid bridge player, genealogist, gardener and golfer. He was a very kind man, and was loved by all who knew him.
He married Evelyn L. Davies on June 3, 1935 in Birmingham, Alabama. She died August 15, 1990.
Survivors include his daughter, Jill Burtram of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Barbara Ferrigno of Baltimore, MD; brother, Rodrick Burtram of Springville, AL; and his dear friend and companion of 20 years, Arlo Lundgren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel with interment in Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
