Mr. J. Donald "Doc" Erickson, 76, of Tecumseh passed away in a Topeka nursing home on Tuesday, December 2, 2003. He was born on Sept. 17, 1927 in Olsburg to Martin and Eva Burklund Erickson.
Doc was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from Oct. 18, 1951 to Aug. 21, 1953.
On April 21, 1956 in Topeka he married Martha L. Axelton, she survives. Other survivors include his daughter Mary McGinnis and her husband Larry of Tecumseh and his son Jim Erickson and his wife Susan of Shawnee, KS. He has one brother Joe Erickson of Olsburg, KS. and his four grandchildren, Emily and Brian McGinnis and Daniel and Nicole Erickson. Two infant sons preceded him in death.
A 31 ½ year employee of the DuPont Plant, he was a Control Mechanic and
retired on March 1, 1990. Doc was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of American Legion Post 400 and the Saw Dusters Wood Workers Club.
Doc will lie in state from Noon until 9:00pm on Thursday and visitation will be in Penwell-Gabel Mid Town from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at 11:00 am in the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Graveside services will be at 3:30 pm in the Olsburg Cemetery.
