J. Joan Anderson

J. Joan Guy Anderson, 94, Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017.

Joan was born September 8, 1922 in Topeka, the daughter of Frank Whitney and Blanche (Scott) Hill. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1940 and later Clark's Business and Secretarial College.

She worked at Topeka Bank & Trust, which later became Columbian National Bank. She worked as Vice-President and cashier. She retired 1985 after 43 years of service. She also served as Director on their Board of Directors for 10 years.

She married Norman Brooke Guy, Sr., on December 24, 1943. He died November 11, 1992. She remarried Arthur Gaylord Anderson on May 6, 1996. He died on October 23, 2002. Joan is survived by her son, Norman Brooke Guy, Jr; Topeka; grandsons, Anthony Brooke (Yvonne) Guy, Topeka, Daniel Whitney (Tricia) Guy, Augusta, GA; Stepdaughter; Gayle Nixon, Florissant, CO, 2 step-grandchildren; Erik Bjorn Anderson Striker, Prairie Village, KS, Farrah Striker, Colorado Springs, CO, 4 great-grandchildren; Cassandra Kristen Hall and Austin Brooke Guy, both of Martinez, GA, Savannah Rachelle Guy and Breanna Brooke Guy, Topeka, KS, and her great-great-grandson, Rhett Hall, Martinez, GA. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Frank Whitney Hill, Poway, CA and Charles Hill, Topeka, KS and three sisters; Jean Jones and Betty Bowman both of Topeka, KS and Margaret Segebrecht, Leawood, KS.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Mount Hope Cemetery and Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society.
