Isaac Weichert

Isaac Weichert, age 11, died on October 21, 2011. His life, though far too short, was one that touched hundreds, if not thousands of lives.

Full of energy and enthusiasm, Isaac loved playing soccer, baseball, video games, reading, hanging out with friends and generally just being a kid. Struck by cancer at age 9, the way Isaac handled the cancer, treatment, surgeries and prognosis, reflected his strong character and positive outlook. Isaac seemed wise beyond his years. His attitude, wit and genuine smile amazed and encouraged those around him.

Mourning the loss of this incredible child are his parents, Zac and Lyn Weichert, brothers Zackery, Tristan and Eli; grandparents Ivan and Karren Weichert, Priscilla Dugan, Don and Mary Ann Dugan; aunts Jessica Schell, Dawn Dugan, and Jennifer Brown; uncles Micah Weichert (Naomi) and Jeff Bottenberg; and cousins and friends too numerous to mention including the students, teachers and parents from Randolph Elementary, Robinson Middle School and Topeka High and the Topeka Bible Church family who offered prayers and wonderful friendship and support over the last several months.

What a gift Isaac was to all who knew him. He touched our lives in remarkable ways. And though the pain of his death is almost too much to bear, the lessons and the memories of his life will be a part of us forever.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Topeka Bible Church, 1101 Mulvane St., Topeka. A Twilight Graveside Service will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Isaac will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
