Irene L. Ginder, 87, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at her residence. She was born on August 2, 1921, in Berryton, KS, the daughter of Roy and Geraldine Green Flohrschutz.
Irene grew up in Berryton graduating from Berryton High School in 1939, and later from Strickler's Business College.
She married Floyd F. Ginder, September 4, 1942, at Fort Carson - Colorado Springs, CO. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2005.
Mrs. Ginder was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church, and Women's Circle Group; VFW Ladies Auxiliary #1650, and AARP #2367. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, playing cards with her friends and attending her grandchildren's activities.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet (Jerry) Myers, Colorado Springs, CO; son, Robert (Liz) Ginder, Topeka; six grandchildren, Tim (Jana) Faulkner and Stacy (Rob) Smith; Jessica, Anna, Madeline and Emma Ginder; two great grandchildren, David and Samantha Faulkner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Eleanor J. Brown.
Irene will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be the following day at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
