Ira "Ike" Brown, 94, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on October 26, 1911 in Garnett, the son of Albert and Della M. Winters Brown. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He had resided in Topeka since 1947. He was a plumber and was a member of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Local Union No. 165 for 27 years before retiring in 1976. He was a member University United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge. Ira married Marjorie C. Zirkle on April 29, 1946 in Carson City, NV. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2000. Survivors include one daughter, Diane K. Lang and husband, Ronald of Topeka, one grandson, Kyle Lang, and wife, Jamie, and one granddaughter, Karie Lang. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Ike will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Friday evening.
