Iona Catherine Hull-Moyer

November 14, 1932 — May 8, 2017

Iona Catherine Hull-Moyer, 84, returned to her heavenly home on May 8, 2017 after a short, but valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Iona was born to the late Isaac Virgil and Lenna Fern Rummerfield, a Pentecostal pastor and a homemaker respectively, in Philadelphia, MO on November 14, 1932. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age.

Iona was blessed with a large and loving family. She raised her three daughters with patience, discipline and humility. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels.

Iona was a caretaker at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to provide aid to anyone that she could. Iona retired from Hewlett-Packard after 30 years of employment and spent her retirement years travelling extensively, spending time with her family, and actively involved in ministries at Victory Worship Center, in Tucson, Arizona. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.

Iona was preceded in death by husbands James Douglas and Clarence Hull, as well as daughter, Marcia Hagan and son-in-law Michael Downey. She is survived by her husband, Alonzo "Al" Moyer; daughters, Anita Downey of Wichita, KS and Karen (Eric) Douglas-Tanquary of Topeka, KS; her grandchildren Sean and Travis (Audra) Downey, Lisa (Bob) Ross and Kimberly (Shawn) Myers, 10 great grandchildren, as well as a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Iona will be inurned at the Kenner Cemetery in Dixon, MO on May 27, 2017. The family gratefully declines flowers and donations, but prayers, condolences and memories are gladly accepted by visit the guestbook below.
