Imogene L. Davis passed away April 21, 2016, after a short illness from cancer which shortened her life. She was born August 16, 1936 in Kirwin, KS, the daughter of Charles C. and Viola G. Williams. She was raised in Phillipsburg, KS and graduated from Phillipsburg High School and Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina, KS. Following graduation from business school, she moved to Topeka and was hired as a secretary for Kansas Department of Transportation. She retired from this position after many years on a job she dearly loved. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Topeka.
She married Lynn W. Davis of Topeka on March 23, 1958 and they enjoyed 58 years of married life. Following retirement, Imogene and her husband enjoyed extensive traveling and had visited many states, especially enjoying the national parks and attending Oldsmobile National Meets. In retirement she also enjoyed volunteering at the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library.
Survivors include her husband Lynn W. Davis, one sister Nora L. Teague of Troy, MO, four nieces whom she adored, Janice (Alfred) Smith, daughter Mendy and her family of Springfield, MO, Connie (Alan) Street of Columbia, MO, Brenda (Joe) Akers and daughters Taylor, Madison, and Sandra (Chris) Brune, and daughters Emily, Olivia, and Madelyn all of Eolia, MO.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her in-laws Lynn & Sophia Davis, her brother George Williams and her brother in-law Joe Teague.
Per her wishes, her body was cremated. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel on Friday, April 29, 2016. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum.
