Obituary Notice
Ila Orene Speer, 85, passed away September 26, 2002 at her home.
She was born on October 10, 1916 in Hope, Kansas to Jacob Millard and Martha Ellen Maxcy Strole. She taught grades 1-4 in Jackson County. She then moved to Topeka.-She worked at Stormont-Vail Medical Center as head typist in the Medical Records department for 27 years before retiring
in 1982. During her employment at Stormont-Vail, she was a recipient of the Carl C.Lamley Award for outstanding Employee of the year.
She married Milton "Mitch" D. Speer on May 15,1945 at First Baptist Church in Topeka. He preceeded her in death after 51 years of marriage
Survivors include: husband
Daughter Donna(Daryl) Ferree Scottsdale,AZ
Grandson Trent Ferree Topeka, KS, Granddaughter Traci Ferree Scottsdale, AZ Sister Gladys Bolen , Holton, KS
Cremation is planned. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 2, 2002 at Memorial Park Cemetery
Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka, KS is in charge of arrangements.
