In Topeka, she was a member of a bridge group, played golf and was President of Shawnee Country Club Women's golf. One of her joys was summer vacations at Okoboji Lake, Iowa with her family. After the loss of her eye-sight, she moved to Columbus Estates Independent Living in Bakersfield, California. Ila married Elmer Kenneth Beeman on July 13, 1930 in Clyde, Kansas at her parent's farm. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1972 as did her daughter, Linda Duff Rhodes on September 21, 2005. Survivors include, William & Patricia Beeman of Lincoln, Nebraska and Darlene Annice Phillips of Bakersfield, CA.; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Ila was most proud of having brought up her children well and that they had a home full of love and laughter. A private celebration of life service will be conducted at the Mount Hope Abbey Chapel. Entombment will take place in the chapel garden mausoleum at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Link to Life, a breast cancer organization, 1706 Chester Ave., #200, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
