Ida Marie Swenson, 76, Topeka, passed away August 24, 2003, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born June 19, 1927, at Olsburg, the daughter of Julius and Nellie Samuelson Knudson. She moved to Topeka following high school. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served as church secretary for 29 years.
She married Kenneth W. Swenson on June 27, 1948, in Olsburg. He died March 21, 1996.
Mrs. Swenson was preceded in death by, sister Nadine Dollard and nephew John Carlson.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Swenson of Lindsborg, a son Jim Swenson and his wife Victoria of Edmond, OK. brother Vernie Knudson of Lawrence, grandchildren Ian of Savannah, Ga., Clarissa, Kent and Kyle of Edmond, sisters-in-law: Dorothy Knudson of Lawrence, Hazel Swenson of Wichita, Dorothy Swenson and Gladys Carlson of Topeka, nieces Judy Allman, Joyce Toolin, Joleen Abell and Bethanne Knudson
and nephews Eric Dollard and Jerry Carlson and Arnie Knudson.
Mrs. Swenson will lie in state after Noon Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Midtown Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am , Wednesday, August 27, at Freemount Lutheran Church Cemetery in Freemount. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Topeka.
