I. "Evon" Meier, 79, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014.
She was born September 1, 1934 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and Inez (Smith) Reiman.
She married Charles W. Meier on September 3, 1954 in Holton, KS. He survives.
Other survivors include daughter, Tammy Johnson (Cliff); sons, Kirk Meier (Nikki) and Rodney Meier (Rachelle); sisters, Susan Kidney (Forrest) and DeAun Hoelzel (John); grandchildren, Ashley Helbert, Cole Helbert, Dayton Meier, Jake Meier, Lauren Meier and Brogan Meier.
A graduate of Circleville High School and Clark Business School, she retired from USD 501 after years as a school secretary at Potwin Elementary. While her children were in school she was very active in the PTA.
Evon was an active member of PEO, a former chairwoman and longtime volunteer at the ERC Designer's Showhouse, and an avid bridge player. She loved spending time with the girls in her bridge clubs. A KU supporter, Evon enjoyed going to basketball and football games in Lawrence.
Private services for the family were held at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
