Hubert Charles "Hub" Gish, 85, Topeka, died December 30, 2003 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the eldest son of Charles E. Gish and Agnes B. Halloran Gish. He spent his early years in Hoyt and attended Catholic schools in Topeka. He married Helen Louise Meyers August 9, 1939 who preceded him in death, as well as his eldest son, Robert Gish and brother, Charles Gish, Jr.
Mr. Gish was in the auto parts business in Topeka for more than 50 years, retiring in 1980 as owner of City Auto Supply and Central Automotive Warehouse. He was a member of Siloam Lodge #225, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Arab Shrine and the Arab Patrol Unit.
Survivors include two children, Thomas Gish and Linda Hoffmann, both of Topeka; three brothers, Ivan Gish, Topeka, and Marvin and Patrick Gish, Kansas City; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Gish will lie in state after 9:00 am Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heart of America Hospice or Kansas Dialysis Services of Topeka, in care of the funeral home.
