Hubert C. Brokmann, 86, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 at Colmery O'Neil Hospital.
He was born Nov. 14, 1920, the son of Arthur and Pearl (Gillum) Brokmann in Valley Falls, KS.
He attended Meriden Public Schools; resided in Fostoria, KS for 1 year, moving to Topeka in 1946.
Hubert served in WWII as a PFC from 1941-1945. He worked at the VAMC from 1950-1958. He later retired as a self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of the VFW #1650; D.A.V. and A.A.R.P.
He married Florence Zerskie; they had a son, Duncan Eugene Brokmann who passed away at the age of 3 in 1946. Florence preceded him in death in March 2007. He married Mary; she passed away on March 12, 1979. He later married Ida Bledsal and she preceded him in death in June 1999. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ruby Beurman and Betty Edwards and 2 brothers, Harold and Homer Brokmann.
He is survived by 1 sister; Ruth Stebbins and a brother, Howard Brokmann both of Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m., Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Hubert will lie in-state after 2:00 p.m., Thursday.
