Hubert R. Bero, 87, of Topeka, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022.

He was born November 26, 1934, in Galveston, Texas, the son of Victor and Anna (Funke) Bero. He graduated from Ball High School in 1952.

Hubert worked at Santa Fe Railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1990 as disbursement account supervisor.

He was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church where he volunteered on the finance committee. He was also a member of SCORE and Santa Fe Retirees.

Hubert was a huge Texas Longhorns fan. He loved music, especially big band and enjoyed dancing. He was fair and kind to everyone.

On January 18, 1957, he married the love of his life, Mary Beth Nash in Galveston, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2019. Hubert always let her know, "you'll always be my sweetie pie" every time they parted.

Survivors include two daughters, Jannett Wiens (Mike Turner) and Lynn Ann Franco (Jim); three grandchildren, Ashley Franco, Jason Wiens (Annelise), and Christopher Wiens (Dr. Madeline Fry); and three great-granddaughters, Jubilee, Ettie, and Seraphina.

Visitation will begin at 10am on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel. Services will follow at 11am.
