Tulsa, OK - Howard P. "Monty" Montgomery, 87, formally of Topeka passed away on Friday, February 16 at Ambassador Manor, Tulsa, OK. Born September 5, 1919, the son of Roy K. and Estella M. (Randall) Montgomery.
He married Ruth E. Green in 1938; she preceded him in death March 10, 1996.
He retired from Stormont-Vail Hospital's Maintenance Dept., was a grocer for Stater Bros. Market in So. California, and was an aircraft mechanic during WWII. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and musician and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 50+ yrs.
Surviving are his three daughters, Barbara Curran of Hemet, Ca; Carol Conger of El Dorado, CA; and Mary Scatamacchia of Tulsa, OK, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Preceding him in death are 1 daughter and 3 brothers.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery. Monty will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
