Howard I. Marlow, Sr., 85, Topeka, Passed away, Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 at Lexington Park. He was born Aug. 26, 1919 in Ordway, CO the son of Charles and Dora Smith Marlow. He attended North Topeka public schools. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He worked for John Morrell Company and retired in 1981 from OHSE Meats after 30 years. He owned and operated several rental apartments in Topeka. He played fast pitch softball in Topeka in his earlier years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #555 since 1956, University United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing. He was an avid KU, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers, Carl, Everett, Eldon Sarver, and Cleo Marlow.
He married Audrey Snook Sept 27, 1947 in Topeka, KS, she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Howard Marlow, Jr. and wife Karen Topeka; Warren Marlow and wife Zandra, Parsons; one daughter, Janice and husband Charles Cathcart, Prineville, OR; eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
a Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by a funeral detail from Ft. Riley.
Mr. Marlow will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Sunday Oct. 10, 2004 where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
