Howard L. Graham, 77, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at his home. He was born on December 2, 1931 in Ottawa, the son of Cleveland and Ethel "Irene" Price Graham. He lived in Lawrence from his childhood until moving to Topeka in 1979 where he had resided since. Mr. Graham was a truck driver and was employed by Hamm Asphalt Company for 20 years. He then became a self-employed truck driver until his retirement in 1985. Howard married Evelyn L. Toyne on October 10, 1953. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2004. He was also preceded in death by five siblings. Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Graham and Stephen W. Graham both of Topeka, three grandchildren, Michele, Robby and Stevie, two great-grandsons, one sister, Marge Rocker of Lawrence and two brothers, Harold Graham of Oklahoma City, OK and Garland Graham of McClouth. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Mr. Graham will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
