Hervey Wright, Jr., 88, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015. He was born January 8, 1927, in Topeka, the son of Hervey and Sicily (Allison) Wright.
Hervey was a graduate of Topeka High School and Kansas State University and partial owner of Vanguard Concrete Products. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a long-time member of Potwin Presbyterian Church and served on the board of directors at Topeka Cemetery. Hervey was a K-State football season ticket holder for over 70 years. He volunteered for numerous organizations including Topeka High Booster Club, Boy Scouts of America, Door Step, and coached several softball teams.
On October 13, 1956, in Salina, he married Jacqueline "Jackie" Wright. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2011. He and Jackie enjoyed attending all of their grandchildren's events and activities.
Survivors include three children, Hervey (Marilyn) Wright III, Greg (Sally) Wright, and Cassie Wright; seven grandchildren, Michael Singer, Christopher Southall, Joseph Milavec, Hervey Wright IV, Casey Wright, Callie Wright, and Cole Wright; son-in-law, Joseph Niccoli; and two great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Candace Milavec-Niccoli, on August 24, 2014.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow in Topeka Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Potwin Presbyterian Church.
