Herbert Seel, 76, of Topeka, passed away Friday Jan. 27, 2006 at the Colmery O'Neil Veterans Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1929 in New York City, NY., the son of Charles C. and Lillian G. Blair Seel.
He attended high school and maritime school in New York City, joining the Navy after the start of World War II. He served in China and the Philipines after the war. He also served in the Korean War, Viet Nam, and the intelligence community, retiring in 1972 after 27 years of honorable service.
He married Ava Louise Keefover on March 2, 1952 in New York City. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2003. He was also preceded in death by one brother.
Survivors include one daughter, two sons, one grandson, two great grandchildren and one sister.
Mr. Seel will lie in state after 1:00 pm Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, Feb. 1 at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
