Henry "Hank" L. Long, 71, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2006. He was born on December 25, 1934 in Blackwell, OK, the son of Boyd H. and Dora A. Long.
Hank served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Gordon, Augusta, Georgia where he met his wife, Nan R. Wade. They married December 20, 1958 and moved to Wellington. They were married for 47 years until she passed away in 2005.
Hank retired as a Freight Carmen from Santa Fe Railway after 38 years of service.
Survivors include two children, Stephen Randall Long and Lisa Long, both of Topeka, two granddaughters, Rebecca Segenhagen of Holton, and Caitlyn Strobel of Topeka, two great grandsons, James M. and Jack Henry Segenhagen of Holton, brother, Clifford Long, MO, and sister, Clorene Jesseph of MO.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 15th at Topeka Bible Church, 1101 S.W. Mulvane; the family will greet friends from 1:00 pm. to 2:00 p.m. prior to his service. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum. He will lie in state after 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
