Henrietta S. (Shaw) Gardner, 94, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011.
She was born September 26, 1917, in Concordia, the daughter of Clyde M. and Faye (Waltman) Shaw.
Henrietta was a graduate of Manhattan High School.
She was employed by Security Benefit Group for 23 years, retiring in 1979.
Mrs. Gardner was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church.
Henrietta married William A. Gardner on March 22, 1941, in Manhattan.
Survivors include a daughter, Gale Gardner-Sparkman (J.D). Eight grandchildren, Debra Watson, Douglas (Kerry) Watson, David (Beth) Watson, Kevin (Kim) Watson, Kent Watson, Wendy (Steve) Lira, Lori Watson, Brandon (Carrie) Watson; twenty four great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Gardner; her parents; a brother, Donald Shaw; and a sister, Leona Herpolsheimer.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, at St. David's Episcopal Church, 3916 SW 17th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Gardner will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
