Henrietta M. Snyder

Henrietta M. Snyder (100) was born on May 23, 1907 in Topeka, Kansas, the only child of George E. and Lillian Cope Moser. She graduated from Bethany Academy and attended Washburn University. While at Washburn, she met O. W. Maddox, whom she married in 1926. He died in 1964. After their marriage the Maddox's moved to Beaumont and then Dallas, Texas. Henrietta later attended the New York School of Design and was accredited by the American Society of Interior Designers. She worked in Dallas as in Interior Designer until 1970 when she married G. W. (Bill) Snyder, Jr. and moved back to Topeka. He died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a step-son, John Snyder in 2004. Mrs. Snyder was baptized at Grace Episcopal Church in 1907, and reestablished her membership at Grace Cathedral when she returned to Topeka. Mrs. Snyder provided many interior appointments for the Cathedral following the 1975 fire, including a stained glass triptych and carved wooden reredos behind the high altar. She is survived by many friends and distant cousins. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2007 at All Saints Chapel in Grace Cathedral. Private entombment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Snyder will lie in state from 12 noon until 8:30 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
