Helen Marie Weston, 91, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at Brewster Place.
Helen was born November 20, 1925, in Missoula, MT, to David M. and Helena Marie (Haines) Weston. She graduated from Missoula City High School in 1943 and from St. Patrick's School of Nursing in Missoula in 1946 where she became a registered nurse. Helen joined the Air Force in 1951 and was stationed at the VA Hospital in Anchorage, AK. By the time she left the Air Force in 1953 she had attained the rank of Lieutenant. Later she moved to Topeka, KS where she attended Washburn University earning a bachelor's degree in 1963. She worked for the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center for most of her career. Helen's entire life was dedicated to serving her country as well as bettering the medical field.
She is survived by her two nieces, Susan E. Weston and Sheila R. Benninger; and two cousins, Zerilda Wornica and Wanda Weston Hooper.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, David Charles Haines Weston, Thomas Alvin Bennard Weston, and William Nicholas Decker Weston; and one niece, Holly Weston DeVore.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Brewster Place Chapel, 1205 SW 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66611. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
