Helen D. Taylor, 85, Topeka died at Manor Care on Sunday, February 22, 2004.
She was born March 4, 1918, in Zeandale, Kansas the daughter of Howard and Frances Davis. She moved and attended school in Wamego. Helen attended K-State for three years after graduating from Wamego High School.
She was married to Robert P. Taylor on January 23, 1943, in Manhattan, Kansas. He survives. They met at a U.S.O. dance. Mr. Taylor was stationed at Ft. Riley at the time they met.
She was a homemaker raising three sons. She helped her three son's attain the rank of Eagle Scout. She volunteered and served as den leader for Pack and Troop # 17 for many years.
In Topeka she worked for Skinner's Nursery and Josten's Year Book. She was past president for the American Legion Post # 400 Auxillary. She also did volunteer work for the Colmery O'Neil VA Hospital with her husband. Helen was a member of Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her brother R.W. "Bill" Davis.
Other survivors include her three sons, Robert E. Taylor and his wife Madlyn of Tuscon, Az., Jim Taylor and his wife Kay of Wichita, Kansas and Terry Taylor and his wife Peggy of Topeka, Kansas. She is also survived by seven Grandchildren.
Scott, Andrea, Jaime, Ryan, Natalie, Paul and Adam. Also survived by two Great Grandchildren Thomas and Evan.
A memorial service will be at the Seaman Congregational Church. The service time will be announced. Mrs. Taylor donated her body to science at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
