Helen Schneider

Helen Whited Schneider, 79, of Topeka, Kansas, died Monday, May 22, 2006 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.

Mrs. Schneider taught at McCarter Elementary School for 16 years and in 1975 quit to open the Earth Shoe Store in Gage Shopping Center. In 1981 she and her husband moved to Lawrence, Kansas where she was employed as sales audit for J.C. Penny Company.
She retired in 1989 and moved back to Topeka.

She was born January 31, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Claude and Hazel Whited. She graduated from Hutchinson High School and Washburn University.

Mrs. Schneider was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church.

She was married to R.C. Schneider on June 4, 1950. He preceded her in death December 3, 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Rob C. Schneider, Topeka; and Marc C. Schneider, Naperville, IL; a sister, Betty Hull, Topeka; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:30am Thursday. May 25, 2006 at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel. Entombment will be in Mount Hope Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be given to Countryside United Methodsit Church, 3221 SW Burlingame, Topeka, KS 66611. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
