Helen E. Neff, 93, of Topeka, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 at Aldersgate Village.
She was born July 9, 1913, in Hill City, KS, the daughter of Finley A. and Mary Ethel Farmer Stevens.
She was a 1930 graduate of Hill City High School. She then went to work for the United Telephone Company as an operator. After leaving the phone company, she was employed by the Federal Land Bank, located in Hill City, as a secretary. Helen was also employed as a church secretary in Hays, Colby and Topeka, retiring from the First Presbyterian Church in Topeka. She was an avid bridge player and loved quilting, needle work and square dancing. Their love of fishing took them on many wonderful family trips.
She married Delbert F. Neff on Jan. 23, 1938 in Salina, KS. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Jen Ellen ( Larry) Biernbaum of Denver, CO and Karen (Alvin) Koenig of Colby, KS; one son, Jon Neff of Evergreen, CO; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Neff will lie in state after 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday Feb.8 at Wesley Hall, Aldersgate Village, with burial to follow in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
