Helen Louise Murphy
Helen Louise Murphy, 86, Topeka, died Wednesday, April 13, 2004, at her home.
She was born November 10, 1917 in Valencia, the daughter of Arthur Irving and Mary Isabel Wax Van Vleck. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1928.
She graduated from Topeka High School in 1936 and was employed as a legal secretary in Topeka for many years, retiring from Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer, L. L. P. in 1983.
She married Emmett Patrick Murphy in 1945. They were later divorced and he died in 1985. Survivors include her children, Janet R. Meyer, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Marilyn Murphy, Rowayton, CT and James C. Murphy, Evergreen, CO, a sister, Ethel McGrew, Story, AR and five nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the main sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery.
