Helen E. Lunnon, age 86, of Topeka, passed away Monday, December 27, 2004, at Aldersgate Village, due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born on October 3, 1918, in Cambridge, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Isabel Brodie. She was married to Robert Lunnon on June 12, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa. She owned and operated the Southwest Child Care Learning Center from 1954 thru 1992. She cared about the welfare and education of over 4,000 children. She left a life long impression on all of the children in her care, and all of the people whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1954, past president of the Topeka Preschool Association, Woman of the Year for the American Business Womens Association, Sunflower Chapter,member of the German American Group and the Saturday Night Livelies.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and brother Eugene Brodie. Other survivors include two sons, Robert Lunnon and wife Kay, Gainesville, TX, and Dennis Lunnon and wife Paula, Topeka; two daughters, Judy Jones and husband Randy, and Susan Jones, Topeka. She had 6 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lunnon will lie in state after 3:00 pm Wednesday, December 29, at Penwell-Gabel Midtown Chapel. The family will greet friends beginning at 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 30, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 31, at First Presbyterian Church.
