Helen Pauline Conway of Topeka, KS passed away at the age of 103. Helen was born August 7, 1918 in Birmingham, Kansas, the daughter of Lee Gooderl and Cora Nissley Gooderl. She graduated from Denison High School. After graduation, she attended the Strikler's Business College. Helen was a secretary in the maintenance office of the Topeka Board of Education for 25 years and retired in 1981. She also volunteered at the Cancer Society for a number of years.
She is preceded in death by her brother Marvin Gooderl of Kansas City, husband Ralph Conway who passed in 1982, her son Gene Conway who passed 2010 and long time companion John Miller. She is survived by her son, Dean Conway of Lakewood, CO; granddaughter, Lauren Conway of Denver, CO; grandson, Nicholas Conway of Delta, CO and daughter-in-law, Jeri Conway in Fountain Hills, AZ.
Helen was never one to pass up a good cup of coffee, bowling, or a chance to dance, Helen was a life-long traveler (taking her first cross-country journey after graduating high school in the 1930s) who never lost her appetite for learning and could always be counted on when there was an organ to be played.
"Today I wish I could live forever, but probably I'll be ready to go 'on' when it happens." It's time!
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Holton Cemetery.
