Helen A. Davis, 86, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 surrounded by her loving family in Overland Park, KS. She was born on October 16, 1923 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Fred and Minnie Skeen. She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1941. She had resided in Topeka since 1944. Helen was employed by the Winter VA Hospital. She was an active member of many clubs and organizations including the Beta Sigma Phi, the Dazzling Dozen and the Jaycee Janes. She was also a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. In 1942, Helen married Frank Ahl. They were divorced. Helen married Charles L. Davis in 1981. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold Skeen. Survivors include one son, Thomas Ahl and his companion, Carolyn Wiley and granddaughter, Christy Ahl all of Topeka, one daughter, Diane Galle and son-in-law, James R. Galle and granddaughters, Lauren and Adrienne Galle all of Overland Park, KS. Helen was the mother and grandmother that every child dreamed of having. Everyone that met Helen loved her warm and loving personality and her radiant smile. She will be missed dearly, but will live on in all of our hearts forever. Her family will celebrate her life and her love in a service at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Mausoleum Chapel at Mount Hope Cemetery. Burial will follow. Helen will lie in state and the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time in the Mausoleum Chapel.
