Hazel Rouse

Hazel Mildred Rouse,92, Meriden, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at a Topeka Hospice House.

Ms. Rouse was born March 6, 1913 in Meriden, the duaghter of Albert F. and Anna Larson Palmberg.

After graduating from Meriden High School, she lived and worked in Salina until moving back to Meriden in 1960, where she worked for the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement.

Hazel spent her life taking care of people. Following the untimely death of her sister, Vera, she provided loving care to young nephews, Ron, Steve and Greg Hanson during that very difficult time in their lives. At her home in Meriden, she was the primary caregiver to her father, Albert; and sisters Ruth and Esther during the last years of their lives.

She was active in the Order of Eastern Star and the Meriden United Methodist Chruch.

Hazel was preceded in death by three brothers: Carl, George and Earl and three sisters; Vera Hanson, Ruth Fowlkes and Esther Palmberg, She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Rowene Palmberg, Topeka and a brother-in-law, Marshall Hanson of Salina and eight nephews and one niece.

A Funeral services will be held at the Meriden United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be in the Meriden Cemetery
