Harvey Glen Gallaway

Harvey Glen Gallaway, 86, of Ottawa, formerly of Topeka, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011.

He was born June 5, 1925 in Eastern Geary County, KS, the son of George and Mary (Amtheaur) Gallaway. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952.

Harvey was employed by I.H. Milling Company from 1948 to 1950 and worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company from 1952 until retiring in 1986.
He was a Lifetime member of V.F. W. Post No. 2187 of Topeka and American Legion Post No. 400 of North Topeka. He was a member of the F.O.E. in Ottawa and the Goodyear Retirees Association in Topeka.

Harvey married Charlotte Roose in 1952. They later divorced. He married Dessie Blosser in 1971. She preceded him in death in 1985. He married Judy Myers in 1999. She survives in Ottawa. Other survivors include three sons, Keith (Cindy Lovin) Gallaway, Carbondale, KS, Dale (Linda Burrell) Gallaway and William Gallaway, both of Topeka; four step-sons, Gary Blosser, Overbrook, KS, Alan Blosser, Missouri, Gary Myers, Augusta, KS and Charlie Myers, Redwing, MN; three step-daughters, Judy Shoemaker, Topeka, Kathy Fleming, Mustang, OK and Linda Gipson, Ottawa; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a twin brother, Harry Gallaway, Maple Hill, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ernest and Franklin Gallaway and a sister, Mildred Gfeller.

Mr. Gallaway was an avid fisherman and card player.

A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour Wednesday. Interment with military honors will be at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Mr. Gallaway will lie in state from 3-7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post No. 400 Honor Guard, 3029 NW Highway 24, Topeka, KS 66618.
